Veronica Velichko, Head of Real Estate and Construction practice of Avelan Law Firm, took part in the expert poll of RBC Real Estate, devoted to the legal nuances of buying an apartment in an emergency building, meant for demolition. 

A decade ago, it was possible to buy title to emergency housing for a small fee and then get a new apartment. But according to the amendments to Article 32 of the Housing Code adopted in 2019, this possibility excluded.

Veronica Velichko, referring to the current legislation of the Russian Federation, confirms, "owners of dilapidated housing can't receive any compensation, but when the house is in the category of emergency and going under demolition, they can count on compensation".
